Story of the Blanks Ch 2

The air was thick with an unexplainable smell, the ground muddy as if from a fresh rain. As Twilight walked on, Applebloom kept at a reasonable pace. She now, slightly, regretted asking Twilight if she could come along. As they walked, they came across a canyon that seemed bottomless. Fortunatley for them, several trees had fallen to create a bridge across it. They crossed, and in no time at all, found themselves at Zecora's house, Zecora waitng for Twilight.
"Hey, Zecora! I brought the books you wanted," Twilight said as she approached.
"Kind ponies, I thank you for delivering what told," began Zecora.
"Glad to help!" Twilight said.
"But you do not want to remain for the events that will unfold," Zecora continued, ignoring Twilight. "Hurry back to Ponyville, you two must," she continued, "For the darkness this night you cannot trust." Zecora then went back inside her house.
"Well, what the hay did that mean?" Applebloom asked Twilight.
"I don't know what this is about, but we better go," Twilight answered, "Come on, Applebloom."
They walked back towards the canyon, but stopped, as a tree had fallen in their path.
"What the? How in Equestria did this tree fall?" Twilight asked nopony in particular.
"Maybe it was ... ghosts?" Applebloom suggested.
"Oh silly, there is no such thing as ghosts." Twilight replied. "Nevermind, I'll move it."
Her horn began to glow, but the tree would not budge. Twilight turned up the power, and finally the tree moved out of their way.
"Phew! Now we..." Twilight started to say. She then looked ahead, and saw that many more trees had fallen behind the first. "Oh come ooon!" Twilight exclaimed, "Stay right there Applebloom, this may take awhile."
Applebloom, letting Twilight work her magic, casually looked behind her, and was surprised to see another pony. This new pony, after seeing she had been spotted, left the path and walked off into the wilder part of the forest.
"Hey, Twilight!" Applebloom tried to say.
"Not right now, Applebloom," Twilight grunted in response.
Applebloom, not wanting to lose this new pony, followed her into the forest.
"Hello? Who are you?" Applebloom called after the fleaing pony. Not getting an answer, she walked further into the forest.
"You out there?" she tried again, to no avail. She walked a little further, and came upon a gorge. Seeing a path to the side of the gorge, she steered clear of it. Five minutes of walking later, she was starting to panic, when she saw a light peeping through the trees. She ran towards it, hoping it to be a way out...
